Probate Law is generally thought of as the process to administer an estate upon the death of an individual. Probate Estates administer the estate of a deceased. They generally fall into two categories: a Small Estate or a Probate Estate.

Small Estates: Small Estates can be administered quite inexpensively when a person’s real property assets plus other assets total less than a certain amount of money. Call your attorney about the administration of a Small Estate.

Probate Estates: A Probate Estate is a lengthy and possibly expensive process, depending on the amount of assets an estate has to administer. The process of administering such an estate takes a minimum of five months, as the estate cannot be closed by the Court until more than four months following the advertising of the estate in the newspaper. The State has instituted many document requirements that increase the cost of administering an estate. Please call for a consultation about this process.
